Corporate Communications Officer

We're looking for a Corporate Communications Officer to join our growing hybrid and mission driven team.

36-40 hours · Utrecht

About the role

ATNI currently has 24 staff members, most of whom are based in Utrecht, the Netherlands.  ATNI is seeking to hire a Corporate Communications officer as part of the communications team. As a cross-cutting function, the communications team works towards the following objectives: 

  • Boost ATNI’s visibility and strengthen its reputation among key stakeholders. 

  • Promote ATNI’s global tracking tools, projects, and data provision. 

  • Ensure stakeholders understand and can effectively use our tools. 

  • Position ATNI as a thought leader in nutrition, financial markets, and business. 

The ideal candidate will collaborate with both the Communications team and the broader ATNI team to develop and implement a robust communication strategy. This strategy aims to elevate our visibility, strengthen our brand, and engage effectively with our stakeholders. The role encompasses managing corporate and strategic communications, website oversight, project communications, contact management, internal communications, social media, and desktop publishing. This person will work alongside a Project Communications Manager, reporting to Policy and Communications Lead and work closely with the People and Operations Lead.  

Duties & responsibilities

Corporate and strategic communications:

  • Manage ATNI’s brand, be the go-to person for external stakeholders with requests for ATNI branding; support with rebranding.  

  • Craft compelling narratives that communicate ATNI’s impact and initiatives to various stakeholders including donors, partners, and the public. 

  • Identify communication platforms for ATNI, its executive director and its senior staff, to disseminate key messages on ATNI’s mission and work.  

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align communication strategies with organizational objectives. 

Contact and relationship management: 

  • Maintain and update the ATNI’s contact database. 

  • Ensure effective segmentation and targeting for communications campaigns. 

  • Manage relationships with key contacts and stakeholders. 

Administration and Internal Communications: 

  • Foster effective internal communication to ensure staff are updated and engaged. 

  • Develop and distribute internal newsletters and support updates to intranet. 

  • Provide necessary administrative and communications support that complement the above duties as assigned (editing reports, etc.) 

Design 

  • Use of tools such as InDesign etc. to develop communications tools for projects. 

  • Coordinate with external design agency/ freelancers for ATNI design needs. 

Media and Social Media Management  

  • Manage ATNI social media presence, including preparing posts and blogs. 

  • Monitor and analyze social media metrics to inform future strategies. 

  • Draft press releases and media engagement. 

Website Management  

  • Oversee the maintenance and continuous improvement of the ATNI website. 

  • Ensure website content is up-to-date, engaging, and aligned with ATNI’s communication strategy.

  • Coordinate with web developers and designers to enhance user experience. 

Events Management 

  • Develop and implement events, roundtables and webinars for relevant projects. 

Qualification & Skills

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master degree in relevant discipline, e.g. Communications, Marketing, Public Health, Food and Nutrition, Business, Economics, Finance, International Development, or a discipline related to ATNI’s work. 

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a similar or related role.

  • Experience or demonstrated interest in food systems and/or global nutrition and related topics (SDGs, corporate sustainability, etc.). 

  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint. 

  • Experience working with WordPress, Google Analytics, Adobe Suite, Canva and other digital tools. 

  • Preferred: experience working with media. 

Qualities required: 

  • Highly motivated, self-directed and adaptable. Able to work on multiple projects in parallel. 

  • Strongly committed to addressing the world’s nutrition challenges and an interest and willingness to (further) develop expertise in relevant areas of nutrition. 

  • Team-player: enjoys working as part of a growing team, collaboratively and flexibly. 

Familiar with the unique challenges and constraints of working for a small, yet globally active NGO. Candidate should be eligible to work in the Netherlands, or UK.  

Existing necessary permits and approvals to work in the EU or UK are required.  

What we offer

ATNI provides an opportunity to be part of a small, committed team working to tackle global nutrition challenges. A salary range of €3000-€4600, gross per month, depending on experience, hybrid working options, 25 days holiday per year (based on 40 hours a week), and professional development opportunities.
